Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University ice hockey team closed the 2012-13 season this evening with a 3-2 setback against the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) ice hockey contest at Loring Arena.

With the win, the Corsairs improve to 10-7-7 on the year and 9-3-6 in the MASCAC which ensures them the second seed in the upcoming MASCAC Ice Hockey Championship, while the Rams finish the season 2-19-3 overall and 0-15-3 in the MASCAC.

After a scoreless first period, UMass Dartmouth took the lead midway through the second as Mike Wilson (St. John's, MI) scored off a feed from Dan Dempsey (Norwell, Mass.).

The Rams would tie the game in the opening seconds of the third as sophomore Ryan McDonald (Anchorage, AK) tallied his team-leading 18th goal of the season just 20 seconds into the frame.  Juniors Daniel Miressi (Monroe, Conn.) and Bo Driscoll (Chelmsford, Mass.) assisted on the tally.

Just over four minutes later, UMass Dartmouth would score a pair of goals two minutes apart to retake the lead.  William Colclough (Naples, FL) scored a power play goal at 4:22 to retake the lead and senior Nick Marquis (Londonderry, NH) added an unassisted marker at 6:54 to push the lead to two.

The Rams got one back at 7:26 on freshman Melvin Nichols (Alexandria, VA) first collegiate tally, but Marquis' goal would turn out to be the game winner as the Rams could not find the back of the net again down the stretch.

Junior Nick Cafrelli (San Jose, CA) picked up the loss in net for the Rams but made 46 saves.

Prior to tonight's game the Rams recognized their three seniors – Ben Pacific (Marlborough, Mass.), Peter Baldwin (Port Williams, Nova Scotia) and Eric Walsh (Haverhill, Mass.) – as part of Senior Night.
