Salem, Mass.— Eric Defelice (Chalfont, PA} scored two goals and added a pair of assists to lead the  Salem State Vikings to a 7-2 victory over the Framingham State Rams on Thursday night in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Rockett Arena.

Salem State improves to 4-3-1 on the year and 3-1-1 in the MASCAC, while Framingham State slides to 1-8 and remains winless in conference at 0-5.

At the 8:45 mark in the first period, Kyle Phelan (Barnstable, Mass.) put the Vikings on the board when he notched a goal off a pass from Defelice for the only score in the first period.

The Vikings carried a 1-0 lead into the second before the Rams struck for back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 lead. Junior Daniel Miressi (Monroe, Conn.) wristed a goal from just below the blue line for Framingham State at the 8:26 mark, and seconds later sophomore Ryan McDonald  (Anchorage, AK) fired a shot that deflected off the post and in. Miressi and Corey Dinwiddie (Valencia, CA) were credited with the assists.

However, Salem State responded with three goals to end the second to regain the lead at 4-2. Derek Crocker (Wakefield, Mass.) scored the first goal when he split two defenders after being set up by John Marsters (Weymouth, Mass.) and Keaton Cashin (Boxford Mass.).  Andrew Bucci (Peabody, Mass.) made it a 3-2 game in the 14th minute, with his third goal of the year and Defelice completed the flurry thirty seconds later when his score was set up by Michael Washington (Denver, CO) and Bucci.

Salem State opened the game up in the third with three more scores as Defelice and Phelan each notched their second goals of the game. Andrew Bettencourt (Riverside, RI) closed the scoring after he was credited with a goal after a Framingham State skater knocked the puck into his own net with just over three minutes remaining to make the final 7-2.

In his first career start the Vikings Khalid Devji (Vancouver, BC) had 31 saves on 33 shots to record the win, while the Rams Dale Adams (Gardner, Mass.) stopped 30 pucks on 37 shots.

The Rams resume MASCAC action on Saturday evening when they entertain the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth at Loring Arena at 7:30 p.m.
