Ice Hockey Storms into Win Column with 9-3 Victory over Southern New Hampshire

Hooksett, NH – The Framingham State University ice hockey team burst into the win column this evening with a decisive 9-3 victory over Southern New Hampshire University in non-conference action.

With the win, the Rams are now 1-4 on the season, while the Penmen fall to 1-3-1.

Junior goaltender Herbert Kyles (Overland Park, KS) was making his first career start and recorded the victory surrendering three goals while making 27 saves.

Junior forward Daniel Miressi (Monroe, CT) tallied three goals to lead the Rams while classmates Jay Nicholls (Middleton, Mass.) and Daniel Roy (Billerica, Mass.) picked up three points apiece in the game on two goals and an assist.  Sophomore Dean Cavicchi (Plymouth, Mass.) chipped in two goals, while junior Tom Tracy (Wakefield, Mass.) dished a pair of assists.

Nicholls puts the Rams on top for good with his first of the game just 1:06t into the contest.  Roy added a pair of goals in the period and Cavicchi tallied what would prove to be the game winner at 17:53 as the Rams opened up a 4-0 lead after one and never looked back.

Southern New Hampshire cut the Rams lead in half with two goals in the second period, but Miressi put the game out of reach with three straight including two in the second period to complete his first hat trick of the season.

The Rams return to action on Thursday evening when they host MASCAC rival Worcester State University at Loring Arena at 7:30 p.m.
