Ice Hockey Opens Season with 6-1 Loss to #14 Geneseo

Geneseo, NY – The Framingham State University ice hockey team opened the 2011 season this evening with a 6-1 loss on the road to 14th ranked Geneseo.  With the win, Geneseo is now 4-3 on the season, while the Rams are 0-1.

Geneseo scored three goals in a 55-second span of the third period to break the game open.  Sophomore winger Zachary Vit scored a pair of goals and picked up a pair of assists to lead the offense, while Colin de Jersey added a goal and an assist.  Junior center Kaz Iwamoto chipped in a pair of assists for the hosts.

Senior Todd Rowley (Billerica, Mass.) picked up the loss for the Rams in net making 38 saves as the Knights outshot the Rams 44-16 in the game.

Sophomore Daniel Miressi (Monroe, Conn.) tallied the Rams lone goal in the game in the second period off an assist from freshman Ryan McDonald (Anchorage, AK).

The Rams return to action on Thursday evening with their first conference game of the season.  The Rams will face Plymouth State in Plymouth, NH at 6 p.m.
