Miressi Selected MASCAC Ice Hockey Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-MASCAC

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - Framingham State University freshman forward Daniel Miressi (Monroe, Conn.) has been selected the 2010-11 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Ice Hockey Rookie of the Year and to the All-MASCAC Second Team in voting conducted by the conference's seven coaches and announced by the conference office this afternoon.          

Miressi had an outstanding rookie season netting 18 goals and 12 assists to lead the Rams in scoring with 30 points.  Miressi was named the MASCAC Player of the Week once this season on January 24th after he notched his first career hat trick in a 5-5 draw with conference leader Salem State and scored two goals in a thrilling 3-2 win over Worcester State.

The Rams finished the 2010-11 campaign 4-18-1 overall and 4-13-1 in the MASCAC missing the conference playoffs by virtue of the tiebreaker system.

Celebrating 40 years of Student-Athlete Excellence during the 2010-11 academic year, the MASCAC is comprised of eight NCAA Division III member institutions: Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University.  Two other NCAA Division III member schools, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sport of men's ice hockey.
