Sullivan Makes 50 Stops as Ice Hockey Falls at UMass Boston

Boston, Mass. - Junior forward Bryan Albert (Redlands, CA) scored two goals to lead the University of Massachusetts Boston men's ice hockey team past Framingham State University, 4-2, this evening at the Clark Athletic Center on the campus of UMass Boston. The Beacons improve their record to 2-1-0, while the Rams fall to 0-5-0.

UMass Boston outshot Framingham State by a 54-17 margin but only held a one-goal lead late in the third period until Albert sealed the win with a tally at 12:45. Junior forward Anthony Fitti (Havertown, PA) and junior forward Andrew Burke (Southampton, PA) picked up the assists. Fitti and Burke also were credited on the assists for Albert's first goal of the game, the Beacons third, which came at 18:04 of the first period and proved to be the game-winner. The pair of tallies gives Albert three for the season which leads the team.

UMass Boston's freshman forward Travis Daniel (North Brunswick, NJ) started the scoring just 3:03 into the game when he connected on a pass from sophomore defenseman Chris Wilcox (Hollywood, FL) and sophomore defenseman Rob Florentino (West Roxbury, MA) while on the power play.

The Rams quickly answered with a score of their own with the man-advantage just 1:57 later to knot the game, 1-1. Freshman forward Eric Ward (Haverhill, MA) took a pass from freshman forward Daniel Miressi (Monroe, CT) and snapped a high shot into the back of the Beacons' net.

Florentino earned his first goal of the season and second point of the game at 16:57 of the first when he hooked up with Daniel and senior forward Eric Tufman (Abington, PA) to put UMass Boston back on top, 2-1.

Trailing 3-1 after the first intermission, the combination of Ward and Miressi struck again for the Rams just 33 seconds into the second stanza, but this time it was Miressi picking up the goal, his fifth of the season.

Senior goaltender Terence Sullivan (Shirley, MA) kept Framingham State within striking distance with 50 saves, while his counterpart, junior goalie Kevin Benel (Denville, NJ), made 15 saves to hang on for the win.

The Beacons travel to Manchester, NH to take on Salve Regina University on Saturday, November 27 at 4:30 p.m. as part of the P.A.L. Stovepipe Tournament, while the Rams are at Salem State University at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 2.
