Ice Hockey Falls at Westfield State 6-3

Westfield, Mass. – Senior center Dennis Zak (Dover, NJ) had a goal and three assists and freshman forward Vince Perreault (Braeside, Ontario) tallied two goals to lead Westfield State University to a 6-3 victory over Framingham State University in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) opener for both teams on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

Westfield is 1-2-1 overall; Framingham drops to 0-2.

With four different players scoring, the Owls bolted to a 3-0 first-period lead and led 4-0 two minutes into the second period. Zak and freshman Josh McCully (North Bay, Ontario), who racked up four assists in the conference opener, assisted on Westfield's first two goals by Lucas Romero and Pat Nelson.

Jason Nelson scored the Owls' other first period goal and Perreault scored his first of two goals 2:08 into the second period.

Senior John Sheehan (Stoughton, Mass.) got the Rams on the board with a power play goal at 7:10 of the second period that made the score 4-1.

Zak added a power play goal for the Owls at 17:18 and Daniel Miressi followed with a power play goal of his own for the Rams at 17:18 of the second period.  Perreault closed the scoring in the second period for the Owls with a goal with four seconds remaining in the second stanza that made the score 6-2.

Miressi added his second of the game in the third period to reach the final margin of 6-3.

The Rams return to action on Thursday night at Fitchburg State.
