Ice Hockey Drops 6-2 Decision at UMass Dartmouth

New Bedford, Mass. - Aaron Blades and Todd Bartelson each scored a goal and added an assist and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team broke a 1-1 tie with three second period goals and went on to defeat visiting Framingham State, 6-2, in a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) game at the Stephan Hetland Memorial Ice Arena Thursday evening.

Blades scored at 5:44 of the first period to put the Corsairs on the board. Jason Anderson tied the game for the Rams when he scored at 9:46 of the first period.

Mike Owens broke the tie when he scored at 6:07 of the second period. Giancarlo Capodanno and Adam Horgan then scored to extend UMD's lead before Joe Hurley's goal at 18:22 of the second period cut the UMD lead to 4-2.

Bartelson's goal at 2:12 of the third period gave UMass Dartmouth a 5-2 lead Billy Manning scored for UMass Dartmouth later in the third period.

The Corsairs out shot FSC, 35-22. Ram goaltender Billy Sias made 32 saves, while Jon Dryjowicz-Burek made 20 for UMass Dartmouth.

UMD improved to 4-4-1 and 1-3-1 in the MASCAC with the victory, while Framingham State dropped to 1-7-1 and 1-5-0 in the MASCAC with the defeat. The Corsairs will return to action when they host Fitchburg State Saturday. The Rams will visit Becker Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
