Ice Hockey Drops 4-2 Decision at Plymouth State

Box Score

Waterville Valley, N.H. - Senior Chris Chambers (Crofton, Md.) registered two goals and an assist Saturday evening, including the game-winner and an empty-netter, as Plymouth State University skated past Framingham State College, 4-2, in a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's ice hockey game at Waterville Valley Arena.

The host Panthers got two first-period goals, but the Rams came back with a pair early in the second to knot the game at 2-2.  Chambers notched a power play goal with seven minutes to go in the middle frame to put PSU up 3-2.  That ended up as the game-winner, as neither team scored until Chambers added his empty net score in the final minute of the game, his team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Plymouth State improved its record to 6-1 on the season and 4-1 in MASCAC games, while Framingham State fell to 1-6-1 overall and 1-4-0 in conference play.

Senior Aaron Runner (Alpharetta, Ga.) made 23 saves in the Panther net to record the victory in his first appearance of the season.  Junior Terence Sullivan (Shirley, Mass.) made 29 saves on 32 shots in the Rams' goal.

Freshman Seth Phelan (Bristol, Conn.) and junior Sean Buckley (Sagamore, Mass.) found the net for the Panthers in the opening period, and senior Jason Anderson (Arden Hills, Minn.) and sophomore Aran Ward (Dunstable, Mass.) countered for the Rams to deadlock the score through the first 30 minutes of the game.

Both teams play MASCAC games again next Thursday, Dec. 10, as PSU hosts Fitchburg State in the final home game of the semester (6:00 p.m.) and Framingham State visits UMass Dartmouth (7:30 p.m.)
