Brockport Downs Ice Hockey. 5-3
Framingham, MA - Five different players scored goals for The
College at Brockport Hockey team as they defeated the host
Framingham State Rams 5-3 this afternoon at Framingham's Loring
Arena. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 8-5-3 on
the season, while the Rams move to 0-13-2.
Brockport scored twice in the first period and then added three
more goals in the third for the win as the Rams scored once in each
period.
Sophomore Tom Galiani (Lindenhurst, NY) gave the Golden Eagles the
early lead as he scored six minutes into the game and freshman
James Cody (Middleburgh, NY) increased the lead to 2-0 with his
sixth goal of the year with 5:58 remaining in the opening period.
Framingham State cut Brockport's lead in half in the closing
minutes of the period as junior forward Jason Anderson (Arden
Hills, MN) scored a power play goal. Junior defenseman Brett
Casavant (Gardner, MA) and sophomore forward Trevor Johnson
(Anchorage, AK) assisted on the tally
In the second period, the Rams senior forward Sean Maguire
(Plymouth, MA) tied the score at 2-2 with the Rams second
power-play goal of the day. Casavant and sophomore forward
John Sheehan (Stoughton, MA) assisted on the goal. The Rams
converted three of ten power play opportunities in the game.
The Rams were able to go into the second intermission tied at two
with the Golden Eagles as sophomore goalie Terence Sullivan
(Shirley, MA), who finished the game with 43 saves, made 12 stops
in the period.
Brockport took the lead for good 1:06 into the third period as
Lucas Schott (Erin, ONT) scored with the teams in a 4-on-4
situation after a Framingham penalty negated a Rams power play.
Less than two minutes later, Ray Tremblay (Peachland, BC) scored
the eventual game-winning goal with his fourth goal of the
season.
The Rams cut the Golden Eagles lead back to one goal with seven
minutes remaining in the game as Maguire tacked on his second
power-play goal of the day. Brockport forward Ryan Silveira
(Brampton, ONT) scored an empty-net goal on a turn-around
backhander with less than two minutes left in the game to put the
game out of reach.
Josh Roarke (Massapequa, NY) made 31 saves and picked up the win in
net for Brockport to improve to 2-0 on the season.
