Westfield Downs Ice Hockey, 9-2
Westfield, MA - Freshman Pat Nelson (Cary, NC) and junior Casey
Mignone (Ramsey, NJ) both had two goals an assist to lead Westfield
State to a 9-2 victory over Framingham State in ECAC Northeast
men's ice hockey action Wednesday, Jan. 14.
The Owls improved to 9-2-3 overall and 6-1-2 in the ECAC Northeast
Conference, while Framingham remains winless at 0-12-2 (0-6-2
conference).
Freshman A.J. Shiverdecker (Kettering, OH) scored 59 seconds into
the game for the Owls on a power play. Shiverdecker also racked up
four assists. Senior captain Jeff Chillson (Enfield, CT) finished
with a goal and three assists for Westfield, which led 3-0 after
the first period and 4-0 at the end of two stanzas. Owl leading
scorer Dennis Zak (Dover, NJ) tallied three assists.
The Owls tacked on five more goals in the final period; Drew
LaCombe (Lowell, MA) and Steve Plancey (Point Pleasant, NJ) tallied
their first goals of the season.
The Rams broke into the scoring column in the third period as freshman forward Nick Jackson (Las Vegas, NV) scored his first collegiate goal off assists from Jeremy Schmidt (Huffman, TX) and Nick Ennis (Stoughton, MA). Junior forward Jason Anderson (Arden Hills, MN) would add his third of the season at 13:44. Sean Maguire (Plymouth, MA) and Joe Hurley (Charlestown, MA) assisted on Anderson's tally.
