Ice Hockey Falls to UMass Boston 3-1

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College ice hockey team is still in search of its first win of the season after falling at home tonight 3-1 to the visiting Beacons of UMass Boston at Loring Arena.  With the win, the Beacons are now 2-3 this season, while the Rams are 0-8.

Despite being out shot by the Rams 17-8 in the first period, UMass Boston got on the board first 14 minutes into the game as sophomore forward Adam Larrabee (Beverly, MA) was able to find the back of the net with a shot from just inside the blue line.  Sophomore Steve Ebbole (Wheaton, IL) and freshman Eric Tufman (Abington, PA) picked up assists on the Larrabee goal. 

The Rams would respond and tie the game up just 3:30 later as senior forward Nicholas Glum (Bellingham, MA) scored unassisted after corralling a loose puck in the Rams offensive zone.

The Beacons would take the lead for good 2:46 into the second period as junior forward Mike Young (Newmarket, ONT) scored and Ebbole and Tufman assisted.  UMass Boston out shot the Rams in the second frame 16-10, but Rams goalie Peter Dundovich (Philadelphia, PA), who finished the night with 31 saves, only allowed the single goal to the keep the Rams within striking distance heading into the third period.

UMass Boston would add a power play goal at 10:12 by Tufman to seal the victory.  Beacon goalie sophomore Ryan Donovan (Rexford, NY) finished the night with 35 saves.

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they host Franklin Pierce at Loring Arena at 7:30 p.m.
