Weston, Mass. – The Framingham State University men's basketball team saw three players record double figures, but it was not enough as the Rams were defeated 57-49 by Regis College at Higgins Court.

With the win, the Pride who received 14 points and 15 rebounds from Ademola Afonja are now 2-2 on the year, while the Rams slip to 1-3.

Regis didn't shoot particularly well from the floor but attacked the glass to the tune of 50 rebounds, 24 on the offensive end. Jawaun Lewis (Jacksonville, Fla.) added a double double of his own with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Pride who led by as many as 19 points.

Sophomore Tyri Hampton (Fitchburg, Mass.) scored a game-high 16 points for the Rams with Charles Valbrun (Hyde Park, Mass.) adding 12 points on 4-of-7 from the floor to go along with a team-high six boards.  Junior Manny Payton (Fitchburg, Mass.) added 14 points and four boards.

Regis had it going early, scoring the game's first 14 points before the Rams finally got on the board just over eight minutes into the game. Afonja scored six points and grabbed five rebounds during that stretch.

Scoring would be at a premium over the next several minutes before Afonja muscled his way into the paint and scored an and-one bucket, throwing down a one-handed jam as the Pride took a 32-15 lead into halftime.

The second half saw a Dimitri Rosa (Tiverton, R.I.) three and an and-one fast break bucket by Shawn Wedderburn (Bronx, N.Y.) push the lead to 44-25 with 12:32 to play, but Framingham State wouldn't let the game get out of reach.

Steve Vayda's three and later back-to-back buckets by Payton shaved the Pride's lead to just eight points. Payton later drained a three pointer to cut the lead to six points with just over a minute to play, but Regis would hold on for the victory.

The Pride next take the court this Sunday, Nov. 26 at Rhode Island College. Tip off is set for 1:00 p.m. FSU visits Wheaton (Mass.) on Tuesday, Nov. 28 for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
