Bristol, R.I. – Junior guard Manny Payton (Fitchburg, Mass.) scored a game-high 31 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Roger Williams University Tip-Off Tournament as the Rams defeated Emmanuel 74-62 in the consolation game of the tournament.
With the win, the Rams are now 1-2 on the year, while the Saints fall to 0-2 on the young season.
Payton led all players with his 31 points on 13-of-20 shooting from the floor including 4-of-7 from behind the arc. He also added seven rebounds and an assist.
Sophomore Tyri Hampton (Fitchburg, Mass.) added 10 points for the Rams on 3-of-7 from the floor, while senior Ben Roache (Dighton, Mass.) added 10 points and five rebounds.
The Saints were led by 14 points off the bench by Zachary Crisafulli, while Joe Tamburro added 13.
The Rams are back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Regis for a non-conference game beginning at 6 p.m.
