Men’s Basketball Falls to RPI at RWU Tip-Off Tournament

Bristol, RI – The Framingham State University men's basketball team was defeated this evening 62-40 by the RPI Engineers at the RWU Tip-Off Tournament.

The Rams are now 0-2 on the year and will face Emmanuel College tomorrow in the consolation game of the Tip-Off Tournament, while RPI advances to face the host Hawks in the championship game.

The Rams were led by 10 points from junior guard Manny Payton who collected on 3-of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe.  Payton added six rebounds and three assists.  Sophomore Tyri Hampton added eight points and three rebounds, while freshman James Purcell chipped in with nine points.

RPI received 19 points from Andreas Kontopidis, while Marcus Giese added nine.
