Men’s Basketball Earns Sixth Seed in 2017 MASCAC Basketball Tournament

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University men's basketball team has earned the sixth seed in this week's Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Tournament.     

The Rams finished the regular season 7-18 overall and 4-8 in the MASCAC.  The Rams will travel to third seed Bridgewater State University on Tuesday, February 21st for a quarterfinal game beginning at 5:30 p.m.  The winner will advance to face second seed Salem State University on Thursday, February 23rd at 7 p.m. in one semifinal.

The Rams were led this season by senior forward Tony Alexandre (Hyde Park, Mass.) and sophomore guard Manny Payton (Fitchburg, Mass.) who averaged 10.9 points per game apiece.  Senior Wesley Ogbevoen (Boston, Mass.) followed right behind averaging 10.2 points per game. 

The tournament field is rounded out by fourth seed Westfield State University who hosts fifth seed Worcester State University on Tuesday in the other quarterfinal.  The winner of that contest will advance to face top seed Fitchburg State University on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the other semifinal. 

The two semifinal winners will meet on Saturday at the highest remaining seed in the championship game. The winner of the championship game receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
