Fitchburg Holds On; Defeats Men’s Basketball 78-69 in OT

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State men's basketball team fell in overtime 78-69 to Fitchburg State in MASCAC action Wednesday evening in Framingham. With the win the Falcons are now 9-9 and 4-2 in MASCAC play. The Rams are 6-13 and 3-3 in league play.

Jaleel Bell (Dorchester, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons scoring 21 points with 10 rebounds. Lance Hill (Springfield, Mass.) scored 18 points and Jalen Williams (Meriden, Conn.) added 17 points in the win for Fitchburg.

The Rams received a team-high 21 points with nine boards from Wesley Ogbevoen (Boston, Mass.). Tony Alexandre (Hyde Park, Mass.) added a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 18 rebounds.

The Rams trailed by 8 entering the final two minutes of regulation but scored the next 8 points to tie the game at 65 and force overtime. After an Alexandre layup cut the lead to 4 with 52 seconds to play Ogbevoen forced a turnover under his own basket and sunk a layup. The Rams held the Falcons off on the next possession and again Ogbevoen drove to the basket to tie the game with 27 seconds to go.

The Falcons controlled the play in the extra period using a 11-2 run spanning the first 4 minutes of play to open the lead to 76-67 and ultimately put the game away.

The Falcons shot 42% from the floor and an impressive 87% from the free-throw line. The Rams shot 36% from the field and 62% from the charity stripe.

The Rams return to the hardwood on Saturday, January 28th when they travel to Salem State. The Falcons host Westfield State on the same day.
