Men’s Basketball Defeats Westfield State; 63-55

Westfield, Mass-. Framingham State senior Wes Ogbevoen (Boston, Mass.) scored a career-high 22 points en route to a 63-55 victory over Westfield State Wednesday evening. With the win the Rams move to 5-10 and 2-1 in league play. Westfield is now 5-9 and also 2-1 in the conference.

Ogbevoen led the Rams shooting 8-of-15 from the floor and 4-for-6 from long range. Ben Roache (Dighton, Mass.) added nine points off the bench for the Rams while Tony Alexandre (Hyde Park, Mass.) scored 8 points and collected a team high 10 rebounds.

Jesus Sanchez led the Owls with a game-high 23 points shooting 11-for-12 from the foul line. Allister Williams added 13 points to effort for Westfield State.

A Jose Allen trey with 12 minutes to play in the first half cut the Rams lead to 12-11. The visitors then rattled off a 16-5 run capped by a Patrick Gould (Quincy, Mass.) trey to go up 28-16. The Owls clawed their way back into the game in the second and after a few lead changes Roache hit a three-pointer with 7:13 remaining to break a 45-45 tie and spark a 13-1 featuring 8 points from Ogbevoen to put the game away.  

The Rams shot 37.3% (22-for-59) from the floor and 41.4% (12-for-29) from beyond the arc. The Owls shot 38.3% (18-for-47) from the field and 27.3% (3-of-11) from long range 

The Rams return to the hardwood on Saturday, January 14th when they travel to MCLA for MASCAC action. The Owls are off until next Wednesday, January 18th when they host Salem State.
