Men's Basketball Falls at Plymouth State

Plymouth, Mass. – The Framingham State University men's basketball team took to the road this evening and was defeated 73-54 by Plymouth State University at Foley Gymnasium in non-conference action.

With the win, Plymouth improves to 5-2 on the year, while the Rams slip to 2-5 overall.

The Rams were led by a double double effort of 11 points and 10 rebounds, including five offensive, from junior Tony Alexandre (Hyde Park, Mass.).  Sophomore Manny Payton (Fitchburg, Mass.) chipped in with 10 points and four boards, while freshman Steve Vayda added nine points off the bench on 3-of-5 from behind the arc.

The Panthers opened up an early 11-3 lead in the game's first five minutes and used an 11-0 run to extend the lead to 22-6 midway through the first.  The Rams closed the half with five of the frame's final eight points to head into the locker room trailing 40-24.

The Panthers extended the lead to as many as 20 in the second half as they capitalized on another pair of scoring runs.

The Panthers shot 46% from the field (24-of-52) to just 32% for the Rams who connected on just 18-of-57 attempts.

The Rams are back in action on Thursday night at Clark University for a 7 p.m. non-conference matchup.
