Wheaton Shoots Past Men's Basketball

Norton, Mass. – Behind 27 points from Billy Battaglia the Wheaton College men's basketball team defeated the Framingham State University Rams 84-58 in non-conference action at Emerson Gym.

With the win, the Lyons improve to 4-2 on the year, while the Rams slip to 1-5.

The Rams were led by11 points apiece from junior Patrick Gould (Quincy, Mass.) and sophomore Tony Alexandre (Hyde Park, Mass.). Gould connected on 4-of-6 from the floor and handed out three assists.  Alexandre struggled from the floor connecting on just 3-of-10 and grabbed six boards.  Freshman Charles Valbrun (Hyde Park, Mass.) connected on 4-of-4 from the floor for 10 points off the bench to go along with six boards, while senior Tim McCarthy (Wilmington, Mass.) chipped in with nine points.

Battaglia connected on 9-of-15 from the floor including 4-of-7 from behind the arc.  Ryan Fogarty added 17 points and four rebounds for the hosts, while Liam Bruno chipped in with 11.

The Rams are back in action on Thursday with a non-conference contest at WPI with tip off slated for 7 p.m.
