Framingham, Mass. – The Daniel Webster College men's basketball team received 29 points from sophomore Ryan Gauthier (Nashua, N.H.) to propel the Eagles to an 88-75 victory over Framingham State University this evening in non-conference action at the Athletic Recreation Center.

The Eagles improve to 6-0 on the season, their best start in program history, and snap a 10 game losing streak against the Rams dating back to 1998.  The Rams are now 4-3 on the year.

Gauthier led all scorers with his 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field including 5-of-7 from long range.  Junior Eric Webster (Oakland, CA) and senior Daris Cosby (Columbia, S.C.) were the only other Eagles in double figures with 19 and 14 points respectively.

The Rams were led by 13 points off the bench from freshman Steve Murphy (Braintree, Mass.).  Murphy connected on 3-of-6 from behind the arc and filled the stat sheet with five boards and two steals.  Junior Jamie Henderson (Cedar Hill, TX) picked up 12 points and six boards, while senior Elijah Chisholm (East Boston, Mass.) added 11 off the bench.

Daniel Webster shot out the lead in the first half as they converted on 17-of-30 from the floor (57%).  Gauthier paced the Eagles with 17 first half points including 4-of-6 from behind the arc, while Webster chipped in with 10 including a monster dunk on the break as the Eagles extended their lead to 20 in the waning minutes of the first. The Rams were led in the opening frame by seven points off the bench from junior George Jordan (Worcester, Mass.).

Daniel Webster extended their lead to as many as 37 with 11:43 remaining in the second half, but the Rams received a spark off the bench from Murphy, Chisholm and freshman guard Jaquan Harris (Randolph, Mass.) who combined for 25 second half points to cut the lead down to 13 in the end.

The Eagles shot 60% from the floor in the second half and finished the game shooting 58% from the floor and 46% from three point range. The Rams shot just 41% from the field in the game and only converted on 5-of-16 from behind the arc.

The Rams return to action next Tuesday evening when they host Fisher College at 6 p.m., while the Eagles host Regis on Saturday at 1 p.m.
