Danbury, Conn. – Freshman Bobby Bynum (New Haven, CT) scored 20 points to help lead the Western Connecticut State University men's basketball team to an 83-62 victory over Framingham State University in non-conference action Tuesday night at Feldman Arena.

Also scoring in double figures for Western were freshmen Kendall Marquez (Willimantic, CT) with 13 points, junior Tony Seldon (Bloomfield, CT) with 12 points, and senior Joseph Setaro (North Haven, CT) who recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

For Framingham State, junior George Jordan (Worcester, Mass.) led the offense with 16 points, followed by junior Jamie Henderson (Cedar Hill, TX) who scored 15 points.  Jordan also led the Rams in rebounds with seven.

Western took an early lead and pushed the margin to 10-4 after four minutes on a layup by Bynum.  At the 8:53 mark of the first half, the Colonial lead expanded to 10 points, 26-16, after a jumper by Seldon, and two minutes later Marquez gave Western a 17-point lead, 35-18.  A Marquez free throw with just over a minute remaining in the half provided the halftime margin, 47-28, in favor of Western.

Framingham State narrowed the gap to 15 points three minutes into the second half after a Jordan jumper, but Western stretched the lead to 21 at the 10:31 mark on a layup by Setaro.  The Rams then went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 63-48 with nine minutes to play, but a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Jesse Robinson (Hartford, CT) put the Colonials up by 18 points, 66-48.  Western maintained its margin down the stretch to claim an 83-62 victory.

For the game, Western held a 40-30 advantage in rebounds, and also had an 11-9 edge in assists.  Western finished shooting 45.2% from the floor and 76.7% from the line, while Framingham State hit 42.6% and 76.9%, respectively.

With the win, Western improves to 5-2 on the season, while Framingham State falls to 4-2.  The Colonials return to action on Thursday, December 5th, when they host Worcester State at Feldman Arena at 7 p.m., while the Rams entertain Daniel Webster on Thursday at 8 p.m.
