Newton, Mass. – Joe McCabe (Canton, Mass.) and Tim McCarthy (Wilmington, Mass.) each scored 15 points apiece as the Framingham State University men's basketball team defeated host Mount Ida, 66-52, in a non-conference game at the Mount Ida College Athletic Center on Saturday. The win moves the Rams to 4-1 while the Mustangs slip to 1-3 on the young season.

McCabe and McCarthy combined to shoot 11-of-19 with five three-pointers as Dan Gould (Quincy, Mass.) added 14 points off the bench. Patrick Cuff (Medway, Mass.) corralled nine rebounds and blocked three shots while Charles Collins (Lynn, Mass.) doled out six assists. Mount Ida shot exactly the same from the field (9-26, 34.6%) in each half, while the Rams started the game hot, hitting 45.7% of their shots before the break and then cooled down (25.7%) in the second half, settling for a similar shooting percentage to the Mustangs by the end of the game. Framingham State claimed a 50-35 edge in rebounding, including a 19-6 margin on the offensive glass.

The Rams are off until the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and they will also be on the road, travelling to play Western Connecticut State in a 7:00 pm game. Mount Ida will enjoy the Thanksgiving break before travelling to Lowell on December 3rd for the unique opportunity to play Division 1 UMass Lowell. That game will tip-off at 2:00 pm on Tuesday afternoon.
