Veal and Mclaurin Named to 2010-11 MASCAC Men’s Basketball All-Conference Teams

Buzzards Bay, Mass. — Framingham State University senior guard Royce Veal (Dorchester, Mass.) has been selected to the 2010-11 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball All-Conference First Team and junior guard Marcus Mclaurin (Braintree, Mass.) has been selected to the All-MASCAC Second Team in voting conducted by the conference's seven coaches and announced by the conference office this morning.          

Veal earns all-conference accolades for the first time in his career as averaged 16.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.  Veal ranks third in the MASCAC in scoring and eleventh in rebounding.  He was selected the MASCAC Player of the Week and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Co-Player fo the Week back on January 19th.

Mclaurin, who joined the Rams for second semester, earns all-conference honors for the first time as he led the Rams in scoring (17.9 ppg) and averaged 4.9 rebounds per game.  Mclaurin was selected the MASCAC  Player of the Week on Janurary 24th after leading the Rams to a last second win over Westfield State.

The 2010-11 Rams finished the season 10-15 overall and fifth in the conference with a 5-7 record.

Celebrating 40 years of Student-Athlete Excellence during the 2010-11 academic year, the MASCAC is comprised of eight NCAA Division III member institutions: Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University.  Two other NCAA Division III member schools, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sport of men's ice hockey.
