Almodovar and Yarrell Named to All-MASCAC Men’s Basketball Teams

Framingham, Mass. - Senior forward Josue Almodovar (Holyoke, Mass.) was named to the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's basketball first team and senior guard Darius Yarrell (Brockton, Mass.) was named to the All-MASCAC second team in voting conducted by the conference's seven head coaches and as announced by the conference today.

Almodovar, who earns First Team All-MASCAC honors for the third time, led the Rams this season in scoring and rebounding as he averaged 17.6 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game during the regular season.  Over the course of the season, Almodovar was selected the MASCAC Player of the Week once and named to the weekly honor roll on several occasions.  Almodovar, who is among the conference leaders in scoring and rebounding this season, began the year ninth on the Framingham State College scoring list and now sits second all-time with 1,650 points in his four seasons.

Yarrell earns All-MASCAC honors for the first time in his career as he averaged 9.6 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game and a team-best 4.2 assists per contest this season.

The Rams finished the season with a 15-9 record overall and a 9-3 conference record which was good enough for second place in the conference. They earned a first round bye in the conference tournament and will host 3rd seed Salem State on Thursday night in a semifinal contest with the winner advancing to the conference finals on Saturday with a birth in the NCAA Tournament on the line.
