Men's Basketball Picks Up Second MASCAC Win

Framingham, MA - The Framingham State College men's basketball team picked up their second Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) win of the season at home tonight 83-55 over the visiting Lancers of Worcester State College.  The Rams improve to 2-1 in the conference and 7-9 overall, while the Lancers are still in search of their first conference win at 0-3 and 7-9 overall.

The Rams opened the game on an 11-2 run over the first five minutes and never looked back as they shot 50% from the floor for the game, while the Lancers only connected on 27% of their offerings.  The Rams shot 39% from three point range for the game, to the Lancers 27%.

Freshman guard Michael Hines (Boston, MA) led five Rams in double figures with a team-high 20 points on 8 of 11 from the field.  Fellow freshman Royce Veal (Dorchester, MA) added 13 points and four assists, while senior center Rob Scarpato (Hopkinton, MA) was 5 of 7 from the field for 12 points and hauled in seven boards.  Michael Costa (Holbrook, MA), who had a team-high nine rebounds, and Josue Almodovar (Holyoke, MA) added 11 and 10 points respectively.

The Lancers were led by senior guard Will Spont (Bellingham, MA) who picked up a double double with a game-high 25 points and 10 rebounds.  Justin Sheehan (Carver, MA) and Ryan Frassica (Brockton, MA) added seven points apiece.

The Framingham State Rams return to action on Saturday January 26th as they travel to Salem State for a 3 p.m. game, while the Lancers travel to MCLA on Saturday at 4 p.m.
