Malmquist Named MASCAC Rookie of the Year; Lucenta Coach of the Year; Four Named All-Conference

Framingham, Mass.- Framingham State freshman Ashley Malmquist (Medfield, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Field Hockey Rookie of the Year. Malmquist is joined on the All-MASCAC teams by teammates Isabella Kondi (Cannan, NH), Cori Lawson (Colombia, MD) & Brandi Core (Medway, Mass.). Rams seventh-year head coach was named MASCAC Coach of the Year as voted on by the coaches around the league.

Malmquist earns first-team honors after registering 32 points with a team-high 13 goals and six assists with two game-winning goals. Her 13 goals were good for second in the conference and third in the league with 32 points. 

Kondi who was a two-time All-LEC honoree earns first team All-MASCAC honors in 2023 after finishing second in the league with 33 points on seven goals and a league best 19 assists.  

Also earning a first-team nod is defender Cori Lawson who led the league with ten defensive saves this year, anchoring a Rams defense that allowed just over two goals a game this season.  

Core is honored as a second-team honoree after a strong season picking up 22 points on nine goals and four assists with three game-winning goals. 

The 2023 field hockey team finished the season 11-10 with a 5-5 conference record earning the #3 seed in the MASCAC Tournament and making the program's first MASCAC Championship Appearance.
