Field Hockey Lands in Second Spot in MASCAC Preseason Poll

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State University field hockey team has been finished tied for  second in the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Field Hockey Preseason Poll as voted upon by the MASCAC coaches. 

The Rams earned 18 points and one first place vote to finish in a tie with Westfield State in the second spot of the poll. The Rams were 3-2 against MASCAC opponents last fall and qualified for the Little East Conference Tournament for the first time since 2009.  Returning for the Rams is All-LEC third teamer Isabella Kondi who scored six goals and chipped in seven assists good for 19 points a year ago. Brandi Core is also back for the Rams, she scored nine goals and added six assists in her 2022 campaign.  

Worcester State came in the first spot receiving 24 points and four first place nods. The Rams received one first place vote but finished tied with Westfield State with 18 points. Fitchburg State is fourth with the final first place vote and 15 points. Rounding out the 2023 poll is Salem State in fifth and Bridgewater State in sixth.  

The Rams open up the 2023 campaign on Friday, September 1st when they host Wellesley at 4:00pm.
