Eastern Edges Field Hockey; 2-0

Framingham, Mass.– The Eastern Connecticut State field hockey team scored two second-half goals en route to a 2-0 win over Framingham State in Little East action Wednesday evening in Framingham.  

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The first half saw most of the play in the midfield with just four shots being taken by either side. The visiting Warriors turned it on in the third quarter, however.  

  • With just over six minutes to play in the third the Eastern Connecticut had the first real chance to score when a flurry of shots were sent towards the goal but were saved in succession by Grace Pushor (Old Town, ME).  

  • The Warriors broke through in the 43rd minute when Kaylee Drobish (Wallingford, Conn.) sent in a rebound off a Liz LaMarco (West Hartford, Conn.). 

  • The Warriors added an insurance goal with over a minute to go when Brooke Mercier (Washington, Conn.) scored an un-assisted tally to reach the final margin.  

  • Pushor made fourteen saves in the loss for the Rams while Sarah Gallagher (South Windsor, Conn.) made two saves in the shutout win for Eastern.  

  • The Warriors outshot the Rams 22-to-2 and earned 14 penalty corners to the Rams two.

  • The Rams return to the field tomorrow when they travel to Rivier for a 7pm matchup. Eastern closes their regular season slate with Salem State on Saturday at noon
