USM Slips by Field Hockey 2-1 in Double Overtime

Framingham, Mass.– USM senior Samantha Ellis (New Vineyard, ME) scored two goals including the game winner in double overtime to send the Huskies over Framingham State in Little East action Tuesday evening in Framingham.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Southern Maine 2Framingham State 1 (2 OT) 

- Records:Framingham State (4-7, 1-7 LEC), Southern Maine (8-66-2 LEC) 

- Location:Maple Street Field – FraminghamMass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Huskies got on the board in the first minute of the game when Ellis found the back of the cage off an assist from Adelle Surrette (Sabatus, ME).  

  • The Rams answered in the 20th minute with an Emma Bailey (North Attleborough, Mass.) goal from an Abby Clark (Uxbridge, Mass.) rebound.  

  • With just under two minutes to play in the third quarter the Huskies earned a penalty stroke but Jaigan Boudreau (Saco, ME) went wide left.  

  • The Rams had a great chance to score in the 56th minute when Clark's shot beat the keeper but was saved by Boudreau and cleared out of danger. 

  • On the other end in the 58th minute Rams keeper Grace Pushor (Old Towne, ME) made a diving save on a breakaway to keep the game tied and send it to overtime.  

  • In the 72nd minute the Huskies converted in transition when Ellis finished off a diving shot off a onetime pass from Hannah Banks to seal the victory.  

  • Pushor made eight stops in goal for the Rams. 

  • Julianna Kiklis (York, ME) made seven saves in the win for the Huskies.  

 

UP NEXT: 

The Rams return to the field on Thursday when they travel to New England College for a non-league tilt. The Huskies will head to Maine- Farmington for a 7pm matchup on the same evening.
