Bridgewater, Mass.– Senior forward Victoria Camara (Westport, Mass.) tallied a pair of goals including the game-winner in overtime to lift the Bridgewater State University field hockey team to a dramatic 2-1 Little East Conference (LEC) victory over visiting Framingham State University on Wednesday night at Swenson Field. 

THE BASICS:

- Records: Framingham State (4-5, 1-5 LEC), Bridgewater State (4-6, 2-3 LEC) 

- Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams broke a scoreless tie with 42 seconds remaining in the first quarter as sophomore forward Brandi Core (Medway, Mass.) converted from nine yards out off a short crossing pass from freshman forward Madalyn Carr (Douglas, Mass.). The goal marked Core's third of the season. 

  • The Bears answered 5:28 into the second quarter as Camara scored in transition on a two-on-one. Camara beat the FSU netminder with a shot inside the left post off a short feed from sophomore forward Hannah Rolfe (Easton, Mass.). 

  • The game remained knotted at 1-1 through regulation. Just over two minutes into the overtime session, the Bears were awarded a penalty corner. Junior forward Bailey Turner (Dedham, Mass.) sent the corner attempt out to Camara who fired a shot from just inside the circle that snuck past the Framingham keeper and into the left side of the cage. The goal marked Camara's third of the season as she tied senior forward Katie Swart (Bridgewater, Mass.) for the team lead. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Bridgewater finished with a 16-9 shot advantage for the game, while Framingham held a slight 8-7 edge in penalty corner attempts. 

  • BSU freshman netminder Emily Ronan (North Billerica, Mass.) turned aside six shots to record her fourth win of the season. The Bears also received a defensive save from sophomore defender Erin Power (Byfield, Mass.). 

  • Junior goalkeeper Grace Pushor (Old Town, Maine) made five saves between the pipes for the Rams. 

UP NEXT: 

  • The Little East schedule continues for both teams on Saturday. The Bears entertain Salem State University at four o'clock, while the Rams travel to UMass Dartmouth to take on the Corsairs at 11:00 AM.
