Framingham, Mass.– Framingham State's Corlene Guenard (Acton, Mass.) scored with just over ten minutes remaining in regulation to break a 3-3 tie and lead the Rams past Worcester State in Little East Conference action Saturday morning at Maple Street Field.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Framingham State 4, Worcester State 3  

- Records: Framingham State (4-4, 1-4 LEC), Worcester State (7-3, 2-2 LEC) 

- Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Brandi Core (Medway, Mass.) connected on a pass from Guenard in the second minute.  

  • About five minutes later the Lancers answered when Madison Avilla (Westport, Mass.) tallied a goal after collecting a loose ball in front of the net.  

  • The Rams controlled most of the second quarter scoring twice and holding a 4-0 advantage in shots. First in the 22nd minute Angelina Serra (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored after a nice give-and-go play with Isabella Kondi (Canaan, NH). A few moments later a Rams player sent in a long strike from well outside the arc, Guenard tipped it to Core who popped it up to herself in front of the net and swatted it home to take a 3-1 advantage into the half.  

  • The Lancers game out of the break and scored twice in the third quarter to tie the score. In the 33rd minute when Emily Floury (Warren, Mass.) converted on a penalty stroke after a Rams foul. In the 42nd minute Lexi Panagiotopoulos (Lowell, Mass.) sent a shot inside the right post after a pass from Karalyn Jones (Wilbraham, Mass.).  

  • The Rams converted on their one shot in the 4th quarter when in the 50th minute when Serra sent a long strike from outside into traffic that was deflected into the top right of the cage by Guenard to give the Rams the lead that they would not relinquish.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Grace Pushor (Old Towne, ME) made five saves in the victory for the Rams.  

  • Madison Ferrara (Somerset, Mass.) turned away four attempts in the setback for Worcester.  

  • The Lancers led the contest in shots 15-to-10 and penalty corners 12-to-4.  

UP NEXT: 

  • The Rams return to the field on Wednesday when they travel to Bridgewater State for an LEC clash with the Bears. Worcester will host Southern Maine on the same evening.
