Bridgewater, Mass. – Sophomore midfielder Caitlin Baril (Lakeville, Mass.) scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as the visiting Framingham State University field hockey team upset Bridgewater State University, 2-1, in a Little East Conference match-up on Wednesday night at Swenson Field.

The Rams improve to 2-6 on the season and 1-5 in the Little East, while the host Bears fall to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play. The win snapped a six-game losing streak for Framingham State, while Bridgewater State has dropped each of its last four contests.

Baril potted the game-winner just 18 seconds into overtime as she corralled a loose ball just outside the circle, stick-handled in and fired a shot inside the left post from ten yards out.

BSU junior midfielder Samantha Hayes (Norwood, Mass.) had staked the Bears to an early 1-0 lead as she potted her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 14th minute. Hayes buried a shot inside the right post from eight yards out following a short pass from senior defender Janet Maher (Mansfield, Mass.)

Baril knotted the game at 1-1 in the 47th minute off a crossing pass from junior forward Bailey Donelly (Framingham, Mass.). Baril collected the feed in front of the net and slipped a shot into the left side.

Bridgewater finished with a 19-14 shot advantage as well as a 9-6 edge in penalty corner attempts.

FSU junior goalkeeper Haley Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) turned aside eight shots to record her second win of the season.

Sophomore net minder Jillian Delaney (Foxboro, Mass.), making her first career start, made seven saves in the setback for the Bears.

The Little East schedule continues on Saturday afternoon for both teams. The Bears travel to Fitchburg State University to take on the Falcons at two, while the Rams head to Salem State University for a noontime game with the Vikings.
