Big Second Half Leads Worcester Past Field Hockey

Framingham, Mass. – The Worcester State State field hockey team defeated Framingham State by a score of 8-0 in Little East action Tuesday afternoon in Framingham. With the win the Lancers are now 4-2 and 3-0 in Little East play. The Rams are now 1-5 and 0-4 in league action.

The Lancers broke the even score in the 27th minute when Alexa Bobbin (Richmond, RI) sent in a loose ball with an assist from Hayley D'Auteuil (Acushnet, Mass.) to send the visitors into the break up 1-0.

The Lancers offense exploded for seven goals in the second half. Sophia Monopoli (Worcester, Mass.) scored the first tally in the 41st minute followed by two scores by Michaila Parent (Westborough, Mass.) and single scores from Haley D'Auteuil (Sutton, Mass.), Sammi Souke (Sandwich, Mass.), Hayley Sutherland (Tewksbury, Mass.) & Lindsay Ryan (Northbridge, Mass.).

The Lancers out shot the Rams 25-to-5 and were awarded 13 penalty corners to the Rams 3.                                                                                                                                                          

Kathryn Salemme (Boxborough, Mass.) earned the win in net for the Lancers before giving way to Jenna Jenkins (Westwood, Mass.). Haley Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) made 8 stops in net for the Rams.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, September 23rd when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State for a Little East matchup. The Lancers will travel to Anna Maria on Thursday, September 21st for a non-conference tilt.
