Field Hockey Blanked by Mount Ida

Framingham, Mass. – Mount Ida senior Lexi Minicucci (Westfield, Mass.) registered a hat trick in the Mustangs 4-0 win over Framingham State on Wednesday evening at Maple Street Field. With the win the Mustangs move to 2-2 on the season while the Rams fall to 1-3.

The Mustangs scored the lone first half goal when sent a strike past Rams goalie Haley Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) after collecting a loose ball in the arc.

The visitors scored twice midway through the second half on almost mirror image plays. In the 48th minute Sarah Hemstock (Northford, Conn.) sent a corner towards Minicucci who shot a rocket towards the goal that flew by the Rams keeper. The Mustangs converted the same play just over 90 seconds later to move their lead to 3-0.

The visitors tacked on another tally in the 60th minute when Taylor Young (Cape Elizabeth, ME) sent in a loose ball after a scramble in front of the net.

Grace Ryan (Livermore Falls, ME) turned away four shots for the Mustangs. Duggan made five saves in net for the Rams.

The visitors outshot the Rams 12-to-7 and took 14 corners to the hosts 4.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, September 16th when they host Plymouth State in LEC action slated for 2:00 p.m. The Mustangs travel to Rivier on the same day for a 6:00 p.m. start.
