Framingham, Mass.- Westfield state senior Meaghan Kenney (Bridgewater, Mass.) scored two 1st half goals en route to a 2-0 victory over Framingham State in Little East action Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field. With the win, the Owls even up at 1-1 on the young season and 1-0 in conference play. The Rams are now 1-2 and 0-2 in the league.
Westfield opened up scoring in the 28th minute when Kenney sent home a rebound off a Cora Rogers (Milford, Mass.) shot. Just over five minutes later Kenney struck again tapping in a cross from Rogers.
The Rams had a chance to cut the Owls lead to one in the 54th minute when Caitlin Baril (Lakeville, Mass.) ripped a shot on net that was kicked clear by the Westfield goalie.
The Owls outshot the Rams 21-3 and attempted 14 corners to the Rams 4.
Katie Vamosi (Easton, Mass.) made 1 save in net for the Owls. Haley Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) turned away 9 Westfield shots for the Rams.
The Rams return to action when they host Mount Ida on Wednesday, September 13th at 7:00 p.m. The Owls host Johnson & Wales on Tuesday, September 12th.
