Keene Soars Past Field Hockey; 6-0

Keene, NH- Freshman Nina Bruno had a hat-trick as the Keene State College field hockey team rolled to a 6-0 Little East Conference win over Framingham State University at a wet and rainy Owl Athletic Complex on Thursday night.

With the win Keene State improves to 2-1, 1-0 LEC while Framingham State moves to 1-1, 0-1 LEC.

The Owls were on the board as the game had barely begun, as Ally McCall fed Bruno for her first goal of the night in the very early stages of the game.  McCall was again the provider for KSC's second, setting up Julia Babbitt at the 14:03 mark, and KSC made it 3-0 minutes later.  Framingham State was awarded a penalty corner, but the Owls turned defense into immediate offense, with Bruno sprinting nearly half the field and beating Framingham State goalie Haley Duggan on a breakaway.

Keene State added a fourth just before halftime, when Erica Chareth tipped in Kendal Brown's shot from just inside the circle.  Casi Smith scored the Owls' next goal, as she diverted a shot from Brown in the early stages of the second half.  Bruno completed her trifecta of goals in the 50th minute with an unassisted tally.

The Rams had their best chance to score in the second half, but Rachel Loseby made consecutive saves on Bailey Donelly and Sydney Buono to preserve the shutout. Jordan LaRaus had one save while playing the first half and Loseby played the second stanza and made three stops.

Keene State remains at home to face Worcester State University on September 9 in an LEC matchup that features the top two teams in the conference's preseason poll.

The Rams return home to host Westfield State University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
