Field Hockey Honors Seniors Prior to Setback to Keene State

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State field hockey team was defeated by a score of 8-0 on senior day in a Little East Conference matchup with Keene State on a rainy Saturday afternoon in Framingham.

With the win the Owls improve to 16-3 and a perfect 11-0 in Little East play. The Rams season comes to a close at 2-16 and a 1-10 mark in the league.

Prior to the contest the Rams honored their two seniors playing in their final collegiate game: Senior defender Devan Peterson (Haverhill, Mass.) and team captain, midfielder Kirsten Terrien (Attleboro, Mass.).

The Owls were led offensively by Jensyn Dandeneau (Berlin, NH) who picked up two goals and two assists and Erica Stauffer (Cheshire, Conn.) who scored two goals and added an assist. Brittney Cardente (N. Kingstown, RI) added a goal and an assist while Nicole Tobin (Walpole, Mass.) and Hannah Cook (Schuylerville, NY) added a goal a piece and Sami Smith (Merrimack, NH) registered two assists.

Gwendolyn Thayer (Hatfield, Mass.) and Jordan Laraus (Bedford Hills, NY) split time in net to earn the shutout for the Owls. Haley Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) made eight stops in net for the Rams while Shayna Yacyshyn (Gardner, Mass.) and Peterson picked up a defensive save each.

The Owls return to action on Wednesday, October 26th when they travel to Smith College. The Rams close their season with an overall record of 2-16.
