Lasell Posts Shutout Over Field Hockey

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State field hockey team was defeated by a score of 3-0 by the Lasell College Lasers in non-conference action Thursday evening in Framingham.

With the win the Lasers improve to 11-6 while the Rams slip to 2-15.

The two teams entered the break scoreless even though the Lasers out shot the Rams 10-to-3 in the first half. Both had opportunities to score but Framingham goalie Haley Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) turned away seven first half shots and Denise Landry (New Milford, Conn.) turned away the Rams one opportunity on net in the frame.

The Lasers were finally able to break the scoreless tie in the 52nd minute when Caitlin Flannery (Medford, NJ) sent a long strike into the back of the cage on a lead pass by Brooke Landry (New Milford, Conn.).

In the 56th minute Brittany Frotier (Newport, VT) tipped a long strike from Flannery into the back of the goal to extend the lead to 2-0.

Just a few moments later Samantha Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) scored with Leah Sullivan (Mansfield Mass.) assisting to reach the final 3-0 margin.

Landry completed the shutout making four saves while Duggan turned away ten shots for the Rams.

The Lasers outshot the Rams 20-to-8 in the contest and were awarded 12 penalty corners to the Rams 6.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 21st when they host Keene State in the final regular season match of the season. Prior to the contest the Rams will honor the two FSU seniors playing in their final collegiate game.
