Field Hockey Falls to Southern Maine

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State field hockey team was defeated by Southern Maine by a score of 4-0 in Little East action Saturday afternoon in at Maple Street Field. With the win the Huskies improve to 6-8, 5-3 LEC while the Rams fall to 2-11 and 1-7 in league play.

The Huskies scored the lone first half goal in the 24th minute when Kaitlin Hilton (Saco, ME) scored with an assist being credited to Maggie Redman (Alfred, ME)

The visitors opened up the second half with a goal in the 39th minute when Hilton scored again with Jennifer Poulin (Winslow, ME) assisting. The Huskies extended their lead in the 55th minute when Poulin sent one home with Abigial Staples (Alfred, ME) assisting.

In the 59th minute Leanne Reichert (Portland, ME) scored with Tayla Smedberg (Oxford, ME) being credited with the assist to extend the Huskies lead to 4-0.

The Huskies outshot the Rams 19-to-4 and were awarded 14 penalty corners to the Rams 1.

Elizabeth Amadei (York, ME) made four saves in the shutout win for USM.

Haley Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) made eight stops in net for the Rams. FSU's Shayna Yacyhyn (Gardner, Mass.) also added a defensive save.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday, October 11th when they travel to Worcester State for a LEC matchup. The Huskies travel to Salem State on the same day.
