Field Hockey Shutout at Home by Eastern Connecticut

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University field hockey team was defeated at home this afternoon 3-0 by Eastern Connecticut State University in Little East Conference (LEC) action at Maple Street Field.

With the win, the Warriors even there season mark at 3-3 and are now 2-1 in the conference, while the Rams slide to 0-4 with the loss and are 0-3 in the Little East.

The Warriors grabbed the lead in the 13th minute as junior Alex Kallgren (Dudley, Mass.) knocked home a pass in the circle from Brianna Passero (Trumbull, Conn.).  The visitors doubled the advantage just over six minutes later when Shannon Connors (Westport, Conn.) converted off a feed from Kallgren.

The Warriors tacked on a final goal in the 44th minute when senior Paige Schneider (East Lyme, Conn.) knocked in a pass from Passero.

The Warriors controlled the pace of play as they outshot the Rams 27-1 and held a 15-1 edge in penalty corners.  Sophomore Haley Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) took the loss in net for the Rams making eight saves, while Samantha Scavo (Redding, Conn.) and Maddie LaRusso (Enfield, Conn.) combined to make one save in the shutout for the Rams.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday afternoon when they host Bridgewater State at 4 p.m., while Warriors travel to Western Connecticut on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
