Field Hockey Shutout by Eastern Connecticut

Mansfield, Conn. – The Framingham State University field hockey team kept Eastern Connecticut University off the scoreboard in the first half, but the Warriors erupted for three goals in a 13 minute span of the second half to secure a 3-0 Little East Conference victory over the Rams at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.

With its fourth straight win over Framingham State (0-6, 0-3, LEC) Eastern (4-3, 2-1 LEC) maintains a share of fourth place in the conference behind unbeaten leaders UMass Dartmouth, Plymouth State University and Keene State College.

Eastern could not find the back of the cage in the first half despite recording nine penalty corners.

 In the second half, seniors Laura Chicorka (Enfield, Conn.) and Brianna Passero (Trumbull, Conn.) and junior Paige Schneider (East Lyme, Conn.) scored goals 13 minutes apart, Passero and Schneider being set up by senior forward Hannah Keiser (Danbury, Conn.). The goals were the second of the season for each of the three.

Eastern outshot Framingham, 14-2, with junior goalie Samantha Scavo (Redding, Conn.) making her only save of the match with 13:34 left in the first half to record her second shutout in five starts this year. Framingham senior goalie Rosemary Talbot (Whitinsville, Mass.) denied four Eastern shots.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Bridgewater State University for an LEC game beginning at 7 p.m.
