Field Hockey Falls to Plymouth State

Holderness, N.H. – Senior Nikki Garvey (Canaan, N.H.) and sophomore Kaitlyn Wilder (Framingham, Mass.) each recorded hat tricks Tuesday afternoon as Plymouth State University defeated Framingham State University, 10-0, in Little East Conference field hockey action at the Holderness School Field.

PSU won its sixth straight game to improve its record to 11-2 overall and 8-1 in the LEC, while the Rams dropped to 6-9 overall and 2-7 in conference play.

Garvey tallied two goals in the first seven minutes to help the home team to an early 3-0 lead. Wilder added a pair of first-half strikes and seniors Emily Davis (Boscawen, N.H.) and Kristin Morris (Stoughton, Mass.) chipped in with a goal each as the Panthers pulled to a 7-0 lead by halftime. Garvey now leads the LEC with 17 goals and 40 points this season while Wilder is third in the conference with 12 goals and 31 points.

Wilder and Garvey each completed their hat tricks with second-half goals while sophomore Jordan Ray (Standish, Maine) tallied her first goal of the season and classmate Nicole Burgess (Mexico, Maine) rounded out the scoring with her second of the year.

Freshman goalkeeper Alivia Bates (Pennsauken, N.J.) earned the win in the Panther goal with four saves for her fifth shutout of the season. Junior Rosemary Talbot (Whitinsville, Mass.) made nine saves in a busy afternoon in the Framingham State goal.

PSU plays a tough LEC game Saturday at UMass Dartmouth while Framingham State visits conference leader Keene State College Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
