Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University field hockey team received a pair of goals and  an assist from freshman Amie Souza (Taunton, Mass.) as the Rams defeated Bridgewater State University 3-2 this afternoon in Little East Conference action at Maple Street Field.

Framingham State evens their record at 6-6 on the year and improves to 2-4 in the conference.  The Bears dip to 5-7 overall and are now 3-3 in the Little East.

Bridgewater State grabbed the early lead finding the back of the cage just under 10 minutes into the contest.  Freshman Tori O'Dea (South Dennis, Mass.) fed junior Brittney Field (Hubbardston, Mass.) in the circle and Field slipped a shot past the Rams goal keeper.

The Bears lead stood until the closing minutes of the first when the Rams tallied the equalizer.  Senior Rhea Urbaniak (Chelmsford, Mass.) sent a pass ahead to Souza who connected on her sixth goal of the year.

The Rams broke open the tie for good in the 55th minute as Souza set up junior Cady Kelly (Canton, Mass.) for the go ahead score.  Four minutes later, Urbaniak and Souza connected again for the Rams third goal of the day extending the lead to 3-1.

Souza's second goal would become crucial as less than a minute later, O'Dea found the back of the cage on a long shot from the right wing to pull the Bears back within one.

Junior Rosemary Talbot (Whitinsville, Mass.) picked up the victory for the Rams making four saves, while Bridgewater State goalie Kaylyn Allahyarian (Norwell, Mass.) made nine stops.

The Rams are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Westfield State for a Little East showdown beginning at 12 p.m., while the Bears host Western Connecticut State on Saturday in Little East action at 3:30 p.m.
