Leicester, Mass.- The Framingham State University field hockey team defeated Becker College 4-1 in non-conference action this afternoon at Alumni Field. The Rams improve to 4-6 on the year with the win while the Hawks slip to 1-9.

The Rams struck first just three minutes into the game when senior Emma Littlefield (Rockport, Mass.) scooped up a rebound on a shot from sophomore Sharon Sears (East Bridgewater, Mass.).

Framingham increased their lead three minutes later when junior Cady Kelly (Canton, Mass.) found the right corner of the Hawks net from a central feed by senior Rhea Urbaniak (Chelmsford, Mass.). The Rams nearly scored with 3:37 left in the half when junior Shannon O'Malley's (Worcester, Mass.) blast was saved by Hawks junior goalkeeper Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.), holding a score at 2-0 at the half.

Kelly netted her second goal of the game two minutes into the second frame on an assist from senior Hannah Wilkins (Merrimac, Mass.) putting the Rams up 3-0.

With 13:28 left to go in regulation, Hawks sophomore Brittney Bebeau (Harrisville, R.I.) dangled through the Rams defense and blasted a shot into the back of the net to put the Hawks on the board.

Framingham put the game out of reach in the 67th minute when Littlefield notched her second goal of the game off a penalty corner.

Despite the loss, Gallo played a solid game for the Hawks in net, recording a season high 20 saves. Framingham keeper Rosemary Talbot (Whitinsville, Mass.) made one save from the Rams.

The Hawks will host Rivier on Sunday, October 5 at 12:00 p.m., while the Rams travel to Fitchburg State on Saturday for a 10:00 a.m. start.
