Field Hockey Drops Little East Conference Opener to UMass- Dartmouth; 2-0

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University field hockey team lost their 2014 Little East Conference (LEC) opening game at the Maple St. Field on Saturday morning. With the loss the Rams drop to 2-2 (0-1 LEC) and UMass- Dartmouth improves to 2-5 (1-0 LEC).

The Corsairs took the lead just over 10 minutes into the game when Erin Kish put a shot on net saved by the Rams' goalie junior Rosemary Talbot (Whitinsville, MA/ Hopedale). The shot and save generated a rebound in front of the net and UMass- Dartmouth's Jill Levrault tapped a shot into the open net.

The Rams struggled to create a quality scoring chance in the first half being out shot by the Corsairs 10-1 at the break. Framingham State's best chance to score came with 13 minutes remaining in the game when a Rams player sent a long crossing pass to the stick of freshman Amie Souza (Tauton, MA) whose one-time shot went just wide.

UMass- Dartmouth tallied an insurance goal on a penalty stroke by Hunter Carden after an infraction by the Rams in the fifty-eighth minute.

UMass- Dartmouth outshot the Rams fifteen to six and earned twelve penalty corners to the Rams' six. Talbot in goal for the Rams made 9 saves allowing two goals while Liz St. Germaine made 4 saves in route to a shutout for the Corsairs.

The Rams return to action on Thursday September, 18th at Anna Maria slated to start at 4 p.m.
