Field Hockey Opens LEC Action with Loss at UMass Dartmouth

North Dartmouth, Mass. -The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's field hockey team shut out visiting Framingham State 3-0 in the first Little East Conference match of the season for both teams at Cressy Field Saturday afternoon.     

The Corsairs' senior forward Eleanor Taylor (Fairhaven, Mass.) scored the only goal of the first half. She was assisted by senior defender Tori Dolce (Jamestown, RI ) with 16:05 remaining.

In the second half, UMass Dartmouth added two more goals to their 1-0 lead. With 26:31 on the clock, Alison Ladue (Bridgewater, Mass.) scored on an assist from Taylor. The third and final goal of the contest was an unassisted score by freshman midfielder Hunter Carden (Branford, CT) with 21:46 remaining.

Framingham State's goalkeeper Sarah Palace (Auburn, Mass.) had seven saves, while the Corsairs' goalkeeper, Lauren O'Brien (Rochester, Mass.) had one. 

The Corsairs improve to 2-2 overall and are 1-0 in the LEC. The Rams drop to 3-1 overall and are 0-1 in the LEC. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Clark Tuesday evening. Framingham State will host Daniel Webster Monday.
