Boston, Mass. – Sophomore forward Cady Kelly (Canton, Mass.) registered her first career hat trick to lead the Framingham State University field hockey team in a 10-0 rout over host Wheelock College this afternoon at Winsor Field.

The Rams improve their record to a perfect 2-0, while the Wildcats fall to 0-3 on the season.

Framingham State dominated the shots by a margin of 32-2, including 29-2 in the first half and held a 12-1 advantage on penalty corners.

Kelly tallied three of the Rams' first five goals of the day.  Her first score came just a tick after five minutes into the match on a feed from junior midfielder Rhea Ubaniak (Chelmsford, Mass.) and struck again just three and a half minutes later on a cross from senior midfielder Kaitlyn Ranieri (Bellingham, Mass.) to give the visitors a 3-0 lead.  Her third goal of the contest and fourth of the season came at 14:26 when sophomore forward Alina Willing (Natick, Mass.) dished out an assist for one of her four points on the day for a 5-0 cushion.  Willing potted a pair of goals herself for Framingham State, including the initial goal just 1:50 into the match.  She also scored the final goal of the game just 5:44 into the second half to pad the Rams' lead to 10-0.

Ranieri and sophomore midfielder Shannon O'Malley (Worcester, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals for Framingham State as well, while freshman midfielder Tori Winton (Westbrook, ME) notched her first collegiate goal at the 24:24 mark of the first half for the Rams.

Freshman keeper Rosemary Balanca-Talbot (Whitinsville, Mass.) stopped the only two shots she saw in the first half to earn the victory for Framingham State, while freshman goalie Sarah Palace (Auburn, Mass.) went untested in the second half in her first appearance in a college match.  Senior goalie Michelle Greene (Mansfield, Mass.) made a season-high 15 saves for Wheelock, while sophomore midfielder Jen Ryan (Bellingham, Mass.) recorded a defensive save for the home squad.

The Wildcats return to action tomorrow when they host Oberlin College at Winsor Field at 11:00 a.m., while the Rams host New England College at 4:00 p.m. on September 12.
