Field Hockey Shutout at Salem State

Salem, Mass. – The Salem State University Vikings defeated Framingham State University 3-0 this afternoon in a Little East Conference field hockey game at Alumni Field.  

With the victory Salem improves their record to 9-6 overall and 5-5 in conference play.  The loss drops the Rams to 9-7 on the year and 3-7 in the Little East.  

The Vikings jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half led by senior Courtney Lynch (North Andover, Mass.) who had a goal and an assist.  Junior Lauren Pazdziorny (Middleton, Mass.) scored the second goal in the first half with three minutes remaining as she was assisted by Lynch and freshman Kathleen Clark (Southboro, Mass.). 

Lynch would add one more insurance goal in the second half on an assist from senior Erin Wilson (Reading, Mass.) for a final score of 3-0.

Junior Michaela Boyer (South Hadley, Mass.) recorded the shutout for the Vikings making six saves in net.  Senior Sarah Ryan (Uxbridge, Mass.) made five saves between the pipes for the visitors. 

Salem is back in action when they travel to non-conference opponent Springfield College on Thursday night.  The Rams return to the field on Wednesday afternoon as the host Lasell College at 3:30 p.m.
