Plymouth, N.H. – Sophomore Nikki Garvey (Canaan, N.H.) and senior Olivia Colborn (Lancaster, N.H.) tallied two goals and one assist each Wednesday afternoon as Plymouth State University defeated Framingham State University, 8-1, in a Little East Conference field hockey game at Arold Field.

The Panthers led from start to finish, out-shooting the Rams 15-0 in the first half and 25-2 for the game.  PSU led 2-0 after the first 15 minutes of play and 4-0 at the half.  Plymouth State won its third straight game to improve to 9-4 overall and 7-2 in conference games.

Freshman Cady Kelly (Canton, Mass.) scored her third of the season for the visitors, and senior goalie Sarah Ryan (Uxbridge, Mass.) made 12 saves in the FSU goal, but the Rams fell to 9-6 overall and 3-6 in the LEC.

Sophomore Sam Carberry (Shrewsbury, Pa.) opened the scoring for PSU with her first goal of the season, an unassisted marker 11 minutes into the game, firing a low shot from just inside the circle on the right side that slipped through the goalie just inside the right post.  Colborn set up sophomore Tayla Corrado (Saugus, Mass.) for a PSU goal four minutes later that made the score 2-0, and Colborn picked up a loose ball near the left post in the 24th minute and flipped a back-hander into an open net.  Junior Lauren Carroll (Rollinsford, N.H.) got a pass from Garvey a minute later that led to Carroll's eighth of the season and a 4-0 margin at halftime.

Kelly gave the Rams some life three minutes into the second half, deflecting a beautiful crossing pass from classmate Janelle Curtis (Hudson, Mass.) for a goal near the left post.  The momentum did not last long, as Garvey collected the ball for PSU on the ensuing draw, raced down the field and scored just 18 seconds after the Rams' goal, making it 5-1.

PSU tacked on three more goals in the final 30 minutes.  Sophomore Emily Davis (Boscawen, N.H.) scored on a low liner after receiving a pass from Carroll at the 42-minute mark, Garvey added her second with a hard shot from the right side in the 46th minute, and Colborn finished off the scoring after receiving a nice feed from Garvey with six minutes to play.

Both teams play conference road games on Saturday as PSU visits Bridgewater State while Framingham State travels to Salem State.
